Match Report – Wigtownshire U13 Boys vs GHA (Home)

Final Score: Wigtownshire 14 – 59 GHA

Wigtownshire U13s hosted one of Scotland’s top clubs, GHA, in what turned out to be an entertaining and hard-fought match. Although the final scoreline read 14–59, the contest was far from one-sided, with Shire matching GHA for possession and determination throughout.

Harry grabbed both of Wigtownshire’s tries, finishing well after strong team build-up play. The home side showed excellent work rate across the park and tackled bravely against some of GHA’s quick and powerful runners. A few big hits slowed the visitors’ momentum, allowing Shire to enjoy long periods of controlled possession.

With this being only their fourth match together at U13 level, the boys continue to show real progress. Game management is still developing — with some adventurous decisions such as running penalties from their own 22 rather than kicking for territory — but the intent to play positive rugby is clear.

Every player is improving week by week, and it was especially pleasing to see the smaller players — Andrew, Ivan, and Lucas — causing real problems for the opposition with their energy and fearless play. Lucas was a deserved Man of the Match after an outstanding all-round performance.

Another encouraging step forward for this young Wigtownshire side — full of effort, teamwork, and growing confidence against top-quality opposition.
