Match Report – Wigtownshire U13 Boys vs Annan
Wigtownshire’s U13 boys hosted Annan in an exciting home fixture between two very contrasting teams. Annan brought a big, powerful, and direct side, while Shire showcased their trademark speed, skill, and teamwork.
The benefits of recent training were clear, with Shire displaying great rucking, structured phase play, and excellent support running. Their handling and link-up play were a real highlight and showed how much progress the team has made.
It was fantastic to see such a large squad taking part, with several boys returning to rugby and others playing their first games. Everyone got a run-out and contributed to a strong team effort. Although Annan’s size and power were difficult to contain in broken play, Shire’s determination never wavered.
In fact, the final third of the game saw Shire outscore Annan three tries to one — a great reflection of their improvement and resilience.
The match ended Annan 53 – 28 Wigtownshire, but the performance and attitude from the young Shire side gave plenty of positives for the weeks ahead.
